As regards the public accessibility of personal data in judicial decisions, the Court reiterates that it has already acknowledged that the competent national authorities should be afforded some latitude in striking a fair balance between, on the one hand, the protection of the public nature of judicial proceedings, which is necessary for the maintenance of confidence in the courts (see Pretto and Others v.
