The Supreme Court was therefore called upon to make a full assessment of his guilt or innocence in respect of the charges against him in the light not only of the arguments he had put forward before the courts below, but also of his arguments concerning the alleged failures of those courts to establish all the relevant facts and to apply the applicable substantive and procedural rules correctly (see Lonic, cited above, § 99, and compare Abdulgadirov v. The Court reiterates that the reasonableness of the length of proceedings must be assessed in the light of the circumstances of the case and with reference to the following criteria: the complexity of the case, the conduct of the applicant and the relevant authorities (see, among many other authorities, Pélissier and Sassi v.
