The Court's role is confined to ascertaining whether the effects of such an interpretation are compatible with the Convention in general and, in particular, with the principle of legal certainty, guaranteed by Article 6 of the Convention (see, mutatis mutandis, Platakou v. Greece, no. 38460/97, § 37, ECHR 2001-I).
