In determining whether an interference was "in accordance with the law", it is primarily for the national authorities to interpret domestic law, but the Convention institutions have a limited jurisdiction to control the manner in which this is done (cf. No. 10689/83, Dec. 14.5.84, D.R. 37, p. 225).
