The Court also reiterates that, according to the case-law of the Convention institutions (see, mutatis mutandis, X and Y v. Ireland, no. 8299/78, Commission decision of 10 October 1980, (DR) 51, p. 72), Article 6 § 1 cannot be read as prohibiting the establishment of special criminal courts if they have a basis in law (see Erdem v. Germany (dec.), no. 38321/97, 9 December 1999). - EKMR, 09.12.1988 - 12839/87

ERDEM v. GERMANY
a) As regards the applicant's complaint that the fifth chamber of the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court was not a tribunal established by law within the meaning of Article 6 § 1 of the Convention since it had been established for the mere purpose of PKK trials and immediately dissolved thereafter, the Court notes that, according to the consistent case-law of the Convention organs (see, mutatis mutandis, X and Y v. Ireland, no. 8299/78 (1980), 22 DR 51, at p. 72 and no. 12839/87 (1988), 59 DR 212, p. 219), Article 6 § 1 cannot be read as prohibiting the establishment of special criminal courts if they have a basis in law.

BELCHEV v. BULGARIA
It refers to its and the former Commission's constant case-law according to which the date of introduction of an application is considered to be, in principle, the date of the first letter indicating an intention to lodge an application and giving at least a summary indication of the nature of the complaints to be made, not the date of its registration or the date figuring on the stamp affixed by the Court's registry upon its receipt (see X v. Ireland, no. 8299/78, Commission decision of 10 October 1980, Decisions and Reports (DR) 22, p. 51, at pp. - EGMR, 24.11.2020 - 30836/07
UZAN v. TURKEY
It has accordingly held that Article 6 § 1 cannot be read as prohibiting the establishment of special criminal courts if they have a basis in law (see, mutatis mutandis, X and Y v. Ireland, no. 8299/78, Commission decision of 10 October 1980, (DR) 22, pp. - EGMR, 05.09.2002 - 42589/98
