- EGMR, 15.12.2005 - 73797/01 Lawyers should, however, "respect the judiciary and carry out their duties towards the court in a manner consistent with domestic legal and other rules and professional standards" (Principles I § 4 and III § 4; see Nikula v. Finland, no. 31611/96, §§ 27-28, ECHR 2002-II).
It is true that this idea has been in principle recognised in the Court's doctrine and expressed in judgments such as Nikula v. Finland (no. 31611/96, ECHR 2002-II), and was once again explained in paragraphs 173-75 of the judgment.
(no. 31611/96, ECHR 2002-II), which has been cited several times by the Grand Chamber.

However, for members of the public to have confidence in the administration of justice they must have confidence in the ability of the legal profession to provide effective representation (see Morice v. France [GC], no. 29369/10, §§ 132, 133, 23 April 2015; Nikula v. Finland, no. 31611/96, § 45, ECHR 2002 II; and Steur v. the Netherlands, no. 39657/98, § 36, ECHR 2003 XI). - EGMR, 17.12.2004 - 33348/96
CUMPANA AND MAZARE v. ROMANIA
Liechtenstein [GC], no 28396/95, § 50, CEDH 1999-VII ; Nikula c. Finlande, no 31611/96, § 54, CEDH 2002-II ; Goodwin précité, p.500, § 39 ; Elci et autres c. Finlande, no 31611/96, § 63, CEDH 2002-II).
- EGMR, 23.04.2015 - 29369/10
MORICE v. FRANCE
They therefore play a key role in ensuring that the courts, whose mission is fundamental in a State based on the rule of law, enjoy public confidence (see Schöpfer v. Switzerland, 20 May 1998, §§ 29-30, Reports 1998-III; Nikula v. Finland, no. 31611/96, § 45, ECHR 2002-II; Amihalachioaie v. Moldova, no. 60115/00, § 27, ECHR 2004-III; Kyprianou, cited above, § 173; André and Another v. France, no. 18603/03, § 42, 24 July 2008; and Mor, cited above, § 42). - EGMR, 15.09.2015 - 29680/05
[FRE]
Turquie, no 38270/11, §§ 94-96, 8 juillet 2014 ; Sik c. Turquie, no 53413/11, §§ 83-85, 8 juillet 2014 ; Yasar Kaplan c. Roumanie [GC] (no 33348/96, §§ 113-14, 17 décembre 2004), Independent News & Media PLC et Independent Newspapers (Ireland) Ltd c. Irlande (no 55120/00, § 114, 16 juin 2005) et Vajnai c.

MEDZLIS ISLAMSKE ZAJEDNICE BRCKO I DRUGI v. BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA
In order to determine the approach to be applied in the present case, the Court has to look at the interference complained of in the light of the case as a whole, including the form in which the remarks held against the applicants were conveyed, their content and the context in which the impugned statements were made (see Stankiewicz and Others v. Poland, no. 48723/07, § 61, 14 October 2014, and Nikula v. Finland, no. 31611/96, §§ 44 and 46, ECHR 2002-II). - EGMR, 20.10.2015 - 11882/10
PENTIKÄINEN v. FINLAND
Royaume-Uni, no 36022/97, 2 octobre 2001). - EGMR, 11.12.2003 - 39084/97

Auszug aus EGMR, 30.11.2000 - 31611/96
The objective impartiality may be jeopardised if a judge takes part in several consecutive stages of the same set of proceedings (see, e.g., the Piersack v. Belgium judgment of 1 October 1982, Series A no. 53, pp. 14-15, § 30). - EGMR, 27.04.2000 - 27752/95
KUOPILA v. FINLAND
Auszug aus EGMR, 30.11.2000 - 31611/96
The Court recalls that under the principle of equality of arms, as a feature of the wider concept of a fair trial, each party must be afforded a reasonable opportunity to present one's case in conditions that do not place him at a disadvantage vis-à-vis to his opponent (see, e.g., the Bulut v. Austria judgment of 22 February 1996, Reports 1996-II, pp. 380-381, § 47, and Kuopila v. Finland, no. 27752/95, 27.4.2000, § 37). - EKMR, 06.12.1989 - 11879/85
ROSSI v. FRANCE
Auszug aus EGMR, 30.11.2000 - 31611/96
The fact that a judge has participated in previous proceedings concerning the same party does not in itself justify doubts as to his or her impartiality (see, e.g., no. 11879/85, 6.12.1989, D. R. 65, p. 232, and no. 17722/91, 8.4.1991, D. R. 69, p. 345). - EKMR, 08.04.1991 - 17722/91
